Thankful Thursday

Well, it's that time of the week again.
Time to look outside the immediate, outside the obvious, and find those things for which I need to express thanks!
If you want to participate, click on the image above and you will get to the main site.

Today Lord, I am thankful
  • For all the hard work my husband put into tidying the dining room yesterday including getting rid of a bookcase that was almost collapsing.
  • For my children who WILL be helping me finish up the last smaller, finer details of that job today.
  • For my eldest learning to cook. Today he will make chilli.
  • For the lovely gadgets my hubby has bought me this week, including a new webcam that I will be able to make vlog posts with. Sooon, Misty, soon!
  • For the wonderful women of W@H, with whom you have placed me for a purpose. I would be less of a person without the input they have given me, thank you Lord.
  • That my dad came to my sons birthday dinner even though we decided to hold it OVER HERE!
  • That people have given me loads and loads of stuff for a future car boot sale to raise money for my Belarus trip.

My Weekend!

First of all church was awesome. The preacher chose a passage that was my life verse for sooo many years and isn't any more because of how far God has brought me, so that was cool.

Then we headed off for our night away without the boys and I had a fantastic time at the Mytton and Mermaid. The dinner was amazing, the live jazz was OK. I don't think a young voice can carry off those tunes in the same way that a mature voice can, it's something about not having had the life experiences or something. The matress was extremely firm and I woke far more times than usual, getting less sleep than usual. But we had a great time.

I've added our new photos to my Flickr folder from the last time we went there. Check out then and this week here.

After breakfast, we headed into Shrewbury for some shopping. I got to go to one of my favourite shops and managed to pick up a bum bag (fanny pack) for my trip to Belarus. Being a larger lady, some of the cheaper ones jsut don't fit, but this one was more than big enough and the pockets are big enough that I will be able to carry my camera, a baloon pump and handfulls of modelling baloons and a small notebook and pen, as well as any cash etc we need.

We then headed home via an electronics store where we picked up a new webcam that I will play with tomorrow in order to learn how to VLOG!

And finally, as an almost afterthought we headed down to the location of the depot for our Opeartaion Chrismtas Child campaign and foudn that some of the team were down there, so I was able to take photos. Check it out on my Childrens Ministry Blog.

FOR TODAY Monday 27th October...

Outside My Window...
I see a broken down fence that we really SHOULD fix before winter comes. But probably won't.

I am thinking...
That I need to spend a fair bit of time with God and my journal this week.

From the Learning Rooms...
Still working through DISCIPLE. I believe we are now on week 6. I'm enjoying it and God has certainly already used it to work on my heart.

I am thankful for...
The opportunity to go away with my hubby without the children and just get time alone together. We had an awesome time and got to talk and share and yes, other things too. Oh and great food.

I am Excited about...
WE GOT THE KEYS WE GOT THE KEYS WE GOT THE KEYS WE GOT THE KEYS WE GOT THE KEYS!!!!!!!!!!!! Operation Christmas Child, shoebox depot! I knew we were getting the keys this morning at 10:30, but hubby and I were still off on our little jolly. The depot isn't far from our house so on the way back I suggested we head down there and have a look so that he can see which unit it is. Surprisingly a few of the team were there so I was able to have a look inside and get some photos for my OCC blog and scrapbook.

From the kitchen...
NOTHING! Absolutely nothing. Hubby and I have eaten our way through a horse this weekend, or at least it feels like that. I shall probably have some toast or a sandwich later but that's all.

I am wearing...
Jeans, which are turned up rather naffly, with a very smart black and white top.

I am creating...
Not a lot. Need to start work on the OCC depot scrapbook rather than leaving it all to the end.

I am going...
to try and work out how to video blog using blogger. Watch and wait people, watch and wait!

I am reading...
Disciple, lots of Twitter posts, a craft magazine and the gift catalogue from a favourite store of mine.

I am hoping...
That i still get to go to soaking tomorrow evening even if Andrew goes to his IET meeting.

I am hearing...
The only thing I can hear is the low hum of the computer and my own typing. I think hubby and youngest are asleep in the living room and eldest is in his room PRETENDING to tidy it!

Around the house...
We are going to tackle a set of shelves full of stuff that either needs other homes or to be thrown out this week. Then I can move my dining tables about slightly and make a new arrangement of things in there.

One of my favourite things...
is when God repeats himself. I don;t like that he needs to, because it means I didn't listen or act the first time, but I love that he gives us a second chance to listen.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
I have to make a couple of phone calls for OCC.
I have to take the big pile of empty shoe boxes down to the depot tomorrow with the stack of small coffee tables.
I am taking youngest and a few friends of his to pizza hut at some point.
Hubby has most of the week off, but I still need to get my two hours a day of work in, that's not always easy with him around.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Answers and a note

First the note - Go head over to my Childrens Ministry Blog where I will be blogging all about my Operation Christmas Child adventures this year - Depot and my trip.

Answer:
To all those who asked where I am going, if you had read further down you would have seen this in the previous post.
I am going...
to be going away for a night with my husband over the weekend. Oh it's wonderful. Out of his overtime money he is treating me to dinner with live Jazz music and a night at the Mytton and mermaid hotel and restaurant. If you've been around me online for a while you will have seen photos of it on my Flickr.

I will now share some example photos

Friday Felicities

Hosted by Becky in memory of Nattie, today is Friday and that means Felicities.

What is making you happy this week?

* A break from school assemblies for a while. I LOVE doing them, but doing 11 in less than 2 weeks is a bit much.
* The conversation I had with one of the teachers at one of the schools - She gave me a lot to think about. Could be turning things on their head a little for me. In fact, she said it twice, I think God wanted to be sure I took notice.
* Michael is now 14, and boy is he growing up fast. I swear I would never have read things like the Hunchback of Notre Dam and Les Miserables at his age.
* Michael had a fantastic parent teacher consultation.
* My dad is coming all the way to our town for Michael's birthday dinner.
* The photos gadget in my google side bar, it's reminding me of photos I forgot I had.
* I have a fantastic husband who is "taking me away from all of this" for at least one night anyway.

So what's making you happy? Write your own Friday Felicities post and head on over to Becky's Blog to sign the Mr Linky and let others know you are participating.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

OK, so it's not Monday
And it's not morning

But I want to do this so I shall

~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
FOR TODAY Thursday 23rd October...

Outside My Window...
Dusk is falling and it will be dark soon. From my chair at the computer desk, all I can really see is the upstairs of the house on the other side of the road, a few trees and the sky.

I am thinking...
That I feel as if I might be coming down with something. I am feeling dizzy and slightly light headed. Good excuse to get the boys to do dinner though.

From the Learning Rooms...
Just got back from Parent teacher Consultation for youngest (14). We joke about these. He loves school, he's bright, he's gifted in fact, and so we joke about how awful these things are and how we come away in such a bad mood. But really we don't! He's doing well in most of his subjects. And now he wants to do Latin! A local school started a basic Latin course just two weeks ago as an after school optional thing. We're going to see if they would let him on that since he doesn't go to their school. If not we're looking at a home school option and my good friend Dana is looking into that for me.

I am thankful for...
So many things and so many people. This week in particular I am thankful for my husbands job even if it does keep him busy more than we would like. At least he still has one. I am thankful for nice nurses who took their time with my blood test and tried not to dig for a vein. I am oh so thankful for comments from total strangers (well more or less, I have spent perhaps 30 minutes in interaction with this lady and only 2 hours total in her presence) which I just know were straight from God.

I am Excited about...
Sorry, I just HAD to add this one in here. I am Sooo excited for my friend Cheryl who is starting school this week. AND for my friends Dan and Sophie who are "getting married AGAIN" God has done such an amazing turn around in their lives in the last 6 months that they are almsot unrecognisable from the couple they were before!

From the kitchen...
in the oven right now a chicken, roasting and a tray of small potatoes drizzled with olive oil and tossed in that and sea salt and herbs de provence. I'll get one of the boys to make a salad to go with that, which will probably jsut involve opening a bag of salad leaves.

I am wearing...
My school assembly trousers! And a brown and orange top.

I am creating...
not a lot other than masses of Twitter posts.

I am reading...
Disciple, lots of Twitter posts the job section of the paper and little else really.

I am hoping...
That if I am coming down with somethign that it get itself over and done with quickly before that night away. Also that the boys won't argue too much while we're away.

I am hearing...
The ktichen timer clicking away, the low hum of the fan oven and vague noises from the TV in the other room.

Around the house...
I have been baking quite a bit this week and with the odd spill here and the odd sprinkle of that there, the cooker top is looking a bit grungy. Need to clean that up tomorrow.

One of my favourite things...
One of my favourite things right now is a big fluffy jumper. There's only me here during the day and I really don't want to heat the whole house for just little ole me until I absolutely have to, so big jumpers it is. I just need some big fluffy slippers to match.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
Well, tomorrow I have to help youngest take a Wii game back to the game swap shop, cuz it was scratched. I also need to make some phone calls about that Latin course. I need to print some sign up lists for Church, stay caught up with Disciple and that's about it really.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

yeah yeah, blah blah

Ooops, misssed blogging for a week or two again huh?
I'm not very good at this.
don't expect me to improve this side of Christmas.

although my intention is to improve because I WANT to blog my way through our Operation Christmas Child depot adventure and then through the lead up to and after effects of my Distribution trip to Belarus.

I am aware of how busy I am going to be and don't expect to keep up to what I want to keep up to.

If any of that makes sense, then hang on in there, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
